Alligators eat insects, fish, frogs, crustaceans, snails, turtles, birds, antelopes and various mammals. Alligators adults can also eat deer.

Adult males are fierce : they defend their territory. But they also fear of humans and often throw themselves into the water when they perceive one approaching them. However, they are dangerous animals to humans.

Alligators often spend their time in the water, otherwise they go hunting.

Mating occurs in spring. The mother defends its “nest” against predators and helps its young in the water ; it protects for a year if they stay close to her. At maturity, they reach 1.80 m long.
