The Giant Tortoise Seychelles is a species of tortoises of the Testudinidae family.

This is the largest land tortoise, it can reach 1.2 m and 300 kg for males, slightly more than 250 kg of the Galapagos giant tortoise. Females are slightly smaller, measuring 90 cm on average. Their longevity can exceed 150 years. The turtles are most active in the morning, if not trying to cool in the shade of some bushes or in muddy puddles.

At the coral atoll, an enormous concentration is observed since their number is estimated at 150,000 individuals. It really is overcrowding, which weighs heavily on plant resources of the island. It also notes a small proportion of young, confirming the reduced availability of food but it is thought the other hand there is a self-regulating birth.

Today, many zoos have this species in the world. Despite their best efforts, none of them managed reproduction.

It is considered vulnerable. It is monitored by the government and international organizations to avoid extinction.
